My first signpost is a tough question, I found it really weird and kind of confusing that Brewster would put himself in the way of all the pain that Tennyson encountered in his Lacrosse game, I found it weird because Tennyson isn't the nicest person in the world, especially to Brew. All this goes down between page 150 and 154. I also questioned why Tennyson got so mad at Brewser after all it was Brewster who won the game for Tennyson. It just shoes how competitive Tennyson is that he would get mad at someone who helped him win in a significant way. The literary element that this helps me understand is a little bit of Internal Conflict and Character Development because deep down Tennyson wants to feel happy that they won the game and that he was most likely the MVP but he is also furious that the only reason he did so well is Brewster taking awy all his pain. The way it shows character development is that before Brewster became Bronte's boyfriend and before Tennyson stops Uncle Hoyt from beating cody with his belt I don't think Brew would have taking that amount of extensive pain for Tennyson, it shows Brewster opening up more and protecting more people. This question makes me wonder how Brew can go on and live with this condition especially since it just gets him hurt.
The second signpost I found is pretty much throughout the whole book so far, it's an again and again signpost, the thing I found that happens a lot is people keep getting hurt and then all of a sudden they feel better. For example when Bronte hurts her ankle really bad Brewster does some "Massage" stuff and she feels better but Brew starts limping. The lit element i found was character development, Brew used to only care for Cody and his Mom but now he's extended it to Bronte,Tennyson and uncle Hoyt. I think the author keeps bringing it up is to get the point that Brewster is actually a good person across. If I had been there I would have brought up the whole point around my first signpost up for sure. I thought that it was a very important piece of the book as well as my second signpost.

The book Bruiser is definitely a pretty interesting book for many reasons including one of the main characters of the book Brewster "Bruiser" Rawlins has a condition which makes it possible to take away the pain, exhaustion etc of those he cares about. Brewster or Brew is a shy kinda creepy guy to most kids, he was even dubbed first to receive the death penalty by the yearbook club. But when he starts dating Bronte Tennyson, her sister, tries to intimidate and threaten Brew. He means well and when he figures out that he isn't a bad person he lays off and him and Brew become pretty good friends. Tennyson is very sporty and competitive, he is the Captain of the school Lacrosse team, he's pretty popular, some see him as a snob but he doesn't think he is. Turns to be a good friend and brother as well as a good person. Bronte is a very no non-sense type of person and you see that within the first couple pages. She is on the swim and falling in love with the schools so called psychotic murderous demon child.
I am really liking this book and am having trouble stopping sometimes it's so good. There is a good plot so far and the characters are well thought of and very intriguing. This is an overall great book and I recommend it to all. Derrick Walton Jr., DJ Wilson and Moritz Wagner are my three favorite players and of course they are both on Michigan's basketball team. The reason they are my favorite players is because one they play for Michigan, two they are awesome because they play at Michigan, three they go to Michigan and anyone that goes to Michigan is awesome. Now for the real reasons, Derrick Walton jr. has a field goal percentage of .432 in the regular season of 2016/17 and he has 177 rebounds 181 assists.
The reason DJ Wilson is one of my favorite players is his hair is awesome, another one is he has a field goal percentage of .542 for the 16/17 season, another reason is he has 197 rebounds and 49 assists. He also has 407 points over this past season. His three point percentage isn't to high coming in at .373% but that is still ok. He has a pretty good draft pick. Last but not least on my list is Moritz Wagner, he is a great basketball player from Germany, Berlin to be exact. He has a field goal percentage of .560% it was actually higher last season when he got a .607%. He ended the season with 158 rebounds, 20 assists and 14 blocks. He had a higher three point percentage then Wilson with a .395% percentage. Also his voice is pretty funny to listen to especialy since he is still trying to perfect his English and he's not good grammar. 1. In a paragraph or two compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) Night and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Some similarities between Night and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas are that both occur during WWII and the Holocaust, also a main character in both is a young Jew Elizer in Night and Schmuel in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Some differences are that in Night it's in the perspective of a Jew while in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas it's a 8 year old son of a Nazi. 2. Choose 1 character from Night or one character from Boy in the Striped Pajamas to analyze. Make note (explain) of their physical appearance, character traits, feelings, demeanor, thoughts, etc. Schmuel is a 8 year old Jew in a concentration camp next to the house of the main character Bruno, he is very malnourished and skinny. He doesn't have very many teeth which could be from his age in which it is somewhat natural to not have very many teeth or it could be that he lives in a concentration camp. He is very innocent and also kind of surprised that Bruno doesn't actually know what is happening in the camp. 3. How have your thoughts or understandings of the Holocaust changed since completing this unit (background research, Night, Boy in the Striped Pajamas? Not very much, I already knew quite a bit about the holocaust. Something that might have changed for me is I actually never knew that there was Jewish people that ran each barrack. 4. Which did you like better and why (book or movie)? I have always enjoyed watching movies or reading a book because while i'm a great reader and apparently very humble I seem to understand it more, I don't know why. If it's a movie based on a book I usually prefer the book because they always seem to change multiple things about the characters or plot. But it all just depends on the book/movie 5. Any final thoughts or questions you have regarding either the book, movie, or Holocaust in general? Why was Schmuel able to sit behind the cinder blocks, I don't think the Nazi's would have allowed that to happen considering how heavy the security was, and maybe they knew he was going back there you say, well that may be true but I think they would notice that he wasn't coming back and his wheelbarrow was always empty sooooooo. Signpost #1:
Tough question page 91 Rabbi Eliahu wonders into the building that Elizer is in and ask's him if he has seen his son, Elie tells him no but then he remembers seeing him running next to him and then realizes that his father the Rabbi was falling behind and was becoming to much of a burden so he distanced his self and Elie ask's himself if it would be best if he did it as well but decided against and was ashamed of himself for thinking about doing it. Signpost #2: Words of the wiser page 110 When Elizers father is very sick his Blockalteste came in and told Eliezer that there was nothing more the doctor or Elizer could do and to remember that he was still in an concentration camp and he could only care about himself and that instead of giving his father his rations that his father should be giving him his rations Sign post #3: Contrasts and contradictions page 101 A piece of bread is thrown in the cart and then an old man goes into the corner with the bread and then his son started to beat him for the bread and then his son was mauled so he killed his father for nothing. If I was the President there would be three major things on my agenda that I would want to complete or restore or work towards in my four years in office. These things would be; one national security, two making health care affordable and reliable as well as making it more affordable to go to the dentist or doctor, and last but not least I would want to put some work into the education system for both teachers and students.
My main priority being National security I would make sure the coast guard and navy have a enough money so they can control our waters and keep us safe at sea, I would also make sure the Air Force can keep our skies safe. I would make sure that we only intervene in stuff happening over seas if its totally necessary for our safety and our allies safety. I would keep the armed forces well supplied as well as making sure that we our attending all meeting with allies and keeping bonds strong. My second priority is to make going to get medical service isn't super expensive so that low income houses can still get quality care without spending thousands of dollars. I would make sure insurance doesn't cost a ridicules amount of money as well as cover the stuff it needs to cover without going to overboard and slaughtering the company's income. I would make sure that the doctors, nurses, orderlies and so on get a good enough pay. My third priority would be making the education field more stable and trustworthy. I would help the staff at schools get a better pay since they don't get much especially after tax. I would keep school affordable while tremendously increasing the experience for students whether it's making sure they are getting a good education, getting healthy food as well as stuff they want to eat and making it fun and enjoyable to go to school everyday. Over winter break I played a lot Xbox watched a lot of Netflix. I rarely left my room besides the obvious trips for food and water as well as the restroom, I had to give up the Xbox every once and awhile for my brother to get a turn and then i would hop on my laptop. We played alot of board games at my dads house like Clue, Trivial Pursuit and Risk, of course my dad destroyed us (us being me and my two younger brothers Jordan and Jacob) in all of the above. It was an absoulete rampage in Risk after i attacked one of his outlieing troops.
We also played some physical hardcore knee hockey with the nets, sticks and pucks There are some basic skills 18 year olds MUST have if they want to be succseful and able to live in the real world. Here they are : 1)Must be abke to talk to strangers, 2)Must be able to find their way around, 3)Must be able to manage assignments and deadlines, 4)Must be able to contribute to the running of the household, 5)Must be able to handle interperson problems, 6)Must be able to cope with ups and downs, 7)Must be able earn and manage money, 8)Must be able to take risks. This whole article is very true in the sense of most parents that they want their children to aquire and have these skills.
Some parents care a little to much so that their children don't actualy know how to do these things because the parents almost always did it for them so instead of learning they just got used to it being done for them therefore its difficult for them to get on with life. They end up living in their parent basebent playing video games and eating fried chicken. There's some rules at my house that I don't like or agree with but there are some that I absoutley hate and want changed immediately. One of these is I have to ask to use my electronics which i really dislike, while this rule has sort of went away it is definitely still there but doesn't bother me as much. Another one of this rules is that i have a early bedtime for a 8th grader 9 o'clock at my moms and 9:30 to 10 at my dads. what bothers me is that the time doesn't change on the weekends and also my friends all get to choose but they are restricted to like midnight which i would have if I had my way.
A rule I don't like at school has to be homework, I'm a busy person and I don't always have time to get it done. Something regarding this rule that has happened recently is what my math teacher Mr.Brems is doing; he has lowered the number of problems on homework significently lowering it from over 40 problems a night with a few expectations too below 20. This has made it so that theres a 50/50 chance we won't have any work to bring home. Another class like this is science and American studies where both teachers Mr.Schlicher doesn't give homework unless you haven't finished an assignment multiple days after it was due then it becomes homework, and Mr.Merula has a rule and hates homework so doesn't give it at all. Another rule is deadlines, I can't stand deadlines. Everyone works at their own pace so you shouldn't be rushed because that can effect your permorence on the work and get you a bad grade or if you miss an assignment it can through you off and then you miss more assignments while you try to make one up and then this cycle just repeats over and over again |
